What a whirlwind year it’s been for Victoria & Christopher! It’s really great to see when two people know that they are perfect for each other and decisively make that next step together. It’s even more amazing when they figure it out so quickly! These two met, fell in love, got engaged, and were married within the year.
I’ve known Victoria for a number of years now and we share many common friends, so it was interesting to see two of my closest friends as honorary bridesmen for the wedding too. It was a great time and a wonderful way to spend the day with friends.

Jane & Dave’s wedding day was an amazing celebration with friends and family. It was also a wedding that was near and dear to me because of the many personal connections I share with the couple. Jane is one of Mary’s (my sister-in-law) closest friends and was a bridesmaid at her wedding. This time it was Mary’s turn to be there for Jane as one of her bridesmaids. Jane’s sister and matron of honour, Siu, is also a dear friend of ours and was a bridesmaid at my own wedding! Lastly, Jane’s cousin Rowena and her childhood friend Martha used their respective talents in make-up and hair to help make their day perfect. I’ve had the chance to work with Rowena at several weddings already!
And what a perfect day it was! Jane & Dave incorporated things in their wedding day that were important to them, including a ride on a TTC streetcar through their neighbourhood and their favourite homemade ice cream at Ed’s Big Scoop. The party went late into the night at the Atlantis Pavillion. My friend and fellow professional photographer Kevin Fung joined me for the amazing day.

Seeing each other for the first time that day.

Dave and his brother doing their rendition of “The Robot” dance. I think I saw The Robot more times than I’d like that day!

Photosensitive is a non-profit collective of professional photographers who are raising public consciousness of critical issues through their photographs. A while back, Photosensitive contacted me about having one of my photographs shown at their “Cancer Connections” exhibit travelling throughout the country. The Cancer Connections exhibit features images of people who have been touched by cancer; survivors, those who lost a loved one, those who have succumbed to the disease, and of course those who fight against cancer firsthand - doctors, researchers, and nurses.
The photograph that was chosen to be part of the exhibit was taken by me at the 2007 Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life event in mid-town Toronto. I had volunteered to photograph the all-night fundraising event. The photograph is of 87-year old Charles, a cancer survivor walking in the Relay.
It was an absolute honour to be able to contribute positively to a cause like this through photography. In 2008 the exhibit launched in Toronto before moving onwards to Charlottetown, Montreal, Winnipeg, and Regina. The exhibit will open shortly after the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. If you’re in the Vancouver area, the exhibit will be at Granville Square Plaza from April 20th to May 2nd. Then it will move onwards to Calgary and then Ottawa, where it will show at Major Hill’s Park behind the Chateau Laurier.
For more information, please visit Photosensitive’s Web site or the Cancer Connections Web site.
