Fanta + Andre Wedding

Fanta & Andre are two of the sweetest people I’ve gotten to meet over the past year.  It’s amazing that after their chance meeting on a flight home from the Barbados, these two would be tying the knot a few years later.  On their wedding day, we joined Fanta and the girls at a nearby hotel for preparations.  Immediately I realized that Fanta’s flower girl, her niece Nevaia, was outgoing and playful with the camera.  Whenever she saw us lift the cameras to our eyes, she wouldn’t hesitate to beam us one of her toothy smiles!  Totally adorable!

We then made a short walk over to the Carlu, an historic and swanky space right in the heart of downtown Toronto for their ceremony and reception.  During the reception there was a moment for prayer, some hilarious and heartfelt speeches, and some talented singing.  Afterwards, we hit the streets just outside the Carlu for some creative portraits with the happy couple.

My friend and colleague Andy King joined me to document their amazing wedding day.  Thank you Fanta & Andre, your families for being so terrific to work with!

Nicole + Hail Engagement

I had a lot of fun hanging out downtown with Nicole & Hail for their recent engagement photo session.  These two are all giggles when they’re together!  Looking forward to their wedding later this Autumn.

Camille + Jasenko Wedding

When I was invited to photograph Camille & Jasenko’s wedding day, I knew that it was going to be a very unique and sacred event.  The entire day was photographed in a documentary style, capturing the moments and meaning of the day for the couple.  Their traditional Muslim wedding ceremony, or Nikah ceremony, was held at the Islamic Society of North America mosque in Mississauga.  It was the first time that I have photographed a traditional Islamic marriage.  During the ceremony, the bride and groom rarely come together and in fact men and women are separated within the mosque.  I asked my friend and colleague Erika of Rowell Photography to help me photograph this unique wedding day.  Erika covered the bride’s side of the ceremony, while I photographed the groom’s perspective.  Following the ceremony the walima, or marriage banquet, was held at the Oakville Conference & Banquet Centre.
