Earlier this year, I photographed my elementary school friend’s wedding. Phil has always been one of the most creative and curious individuals I know. Besides getting into all sorts of trouble when we were young, we would always be creating art (sketching, comics, electronic music, and digital art) together with a close knit group of creative friends back in grade school. It was those early days that inspired me to continue doing creative work.
Ester is an equally creative visual artist herself and they compliment each other very well. Their wedding featured a lot of personal touches including some wonderful vintage Edison lights, a sail from Phil’s sailing adventures used as a canopy for the lounge area, and an animated LED table that Phil built himself. It was a chore to move everything from Toronto, but they wanted to really make the venue their own for the wedding day. They even arrived in their car, affectionately named Clyde, a vintage ‘75 AMC Hornet that Phil has been lovingly restoring.
I started photographing Ester and the girls getting ready for the big day at the wonderfully quaint Inn on the Twenty in Jordan, Ontario. From there it was a short drive to Ball’s Falls. It was a gorgeous little spot with the picture-perfect little white church and barn for the party.
Congratulations again guys! It was an honour to be a part of your special day.
