Camille + Jasenko Wedding
July 20th, 2010 | Weddings
When I was invited to photograph Camille & Jasenko’s wedding day, I knew that it was going to be a very unique and sacred event. The entire day was photographed in a documentary style, capturing the moments and meaning of the day for the couple. Their traditional Muslim wedding ceremony, or Nikah ceremony, was held at the Islamic Society of North America mosque in Mississauga. It was the first time that I have photographed a traditional Islamic marriage. During the ceremony, the bride and groom rarely come together and in fact men and women are separated within the mosque. I asked my friend and colleague Erika of Rowell Photography to help me photograph this unique wedding day. Erika covered the bride’s side of the ceremony, while I photographed the groom’s perspective. Following the ceremony the walima, or marriage banquet, was held at the Oakville Conference & Banquet Centre. Here are some of our images from the day.
